"It's not working! We need more monkeys!"
We managed to squeeze in one social engagement in mid-March, for B's cousin's birthday. It was a quick trip to Eugene and back for an evening but lovely to see Dusty and Andrea and their ridiculously lovely and smart Emelia. We missed another social event the next weekend because we had too many commitments in Portland, so we feel lucky to get any at all!
It's late February and we have been working every day on house improvements for two months. We need a break. We head to Oceanside, north of our typical haunt in Pacific City. Our room sits high above a cafe and looks over the shoreline. We only have two days but we make the most of it by doing lots of nothing. Walking on the beach. Watching the waves. Eating. Reading. Fooling around. More watching the waves. Taking photographs.
It was a much-needed getaway.
Deep in all the unpacking/small house projects I was amazed this week to think that we have been in the house less than two months. Feels much longer than that.
Our move in late January was amazing on many levels. It was amazingly good weather, especially for winter. We had an amazing turnout of friends and family. And it took an amazingly long time.
We. Have. So. Much. Stuff.
The storage unit we were bringing things from was very close so it should have gone faster but there was so much and we absolutely underestimated the impact of all of the stairs. By mid-afternoon everyone was getting very tired but we still had more to come. The push to the end was grueling but we held fast and got it done.
