"It's not working! We need more monkeys!"
Oh yes, the day finally came. Jess came home for the weekend and brought The Boyfriend with her. We've been hearing about him for months and then he was in our house. It was a short visit. The weather was glorious so we tooled around Portland -- wandered about Chinatown, hit Powell's Books and the Pearl. Then we toured a botanical garden near Reed College. Lovely spot.
Then the girls came for dinner Saturday night and we indoctrinated The Boyfriend with a round of Dominoes and Taboo. Then all too soon they were gone and we were back to our empty nest.
Happy birthday Julie and Gloria! We celebrated with a lovely dinner at Susan's house in Vancouver. Now that all of our kids are grown we 'girlfriends' have so much more time to meet up and enjoy each other's company. Earlier in the day I went to the tulip farm in Woodburn, and a winery nearby, with Terri and She Who Must Not Be Named. The farm was crazy, standstill cars for miles around, a huge crowd at the farm itself. But very lovely nonetheless.
And the wine wasn't half bad either...
Still putting plenty of time, and money, in on home projects. Fearful we'd never get to the raised beds I was hoping for, I bought some farm tubs and planted in those. Hopefully the squirrels and rats leave it along. Then we paid a concrete contractor to come in to widen our driveway. Now we're laying down rock between the driveway and the house for drainage and weed prevention. Feels good to check them off our to-do list.
Funny Easter this year. Plan A was to have a family brunch. But then Brian had to head north to see his mom and Trusten fell ill. So it was just the two eldest girls and me. And fun! We colored eggs, I hid and they hunted eggs (but no baskets). And we had a lovely meal.
THEN, Ju and I went to see our childhood fav, "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Hollywood Theater. Perfect for Easter.
