We had a lovely few hours with Jason, visiting Youngs River Falls which neither Brian or I had ever seen. It was gorgeous and very quiet -- worth every moment.
This is the journey through life for the Troutehole family. We are having fun and enjoying the ride.

Youngs River Falls
We had a lovely few hours with Jason, visiting Youngs River Falls which neither Brian or I had ever seen. It was gorgeous and very quiet -- worth every moment.
Halfversary
Since we can never get away in October we opted to spend our 15th half anniversary back where it started, at the Sandtrap in Gearhart. It's now a full inn, with cozy little rooms. It was a lovely 3-day visit at the beach over Memorial Day.
Part of our adventure included a stop at Fort Stevens. We walked towards the south jetty, past all the throngs of tourists and into a lovely afternoon. We found a baby seal on the beach that had flopped quite a ways from where it was left by its mother. We called Keith (marine mammal stranding network etc...) and he pointed out high tide was coming. So we spent a while ringing the seal with standing driftwood so a car on the beach would not hit it and wrote a message in the sand so tourists would not freak out and call authorities.
Create something great
After three year we broke Moo Blues and set her in her rightful place in our yard. Neighbors and passersby love her!
FINALLY finished the quilt top I've been working on for years. I am so sick of it. Eventually I'll complete the project but right now I need a break. Who's idea was that anyway?
We're continuing our exploration of McMenamins this spring (gotta get stamps in our passports!). We tried out White Eagle, a former working class Polish bar that had a live band -- singing in Polish. It was awesome!
Finally got the backyard gate I've been wanting. B didn't care about having one but he made it for me anyway. That's love.
Finally cleaned up the trailer after letting it sit for years. Forgot this was in there, I jacket I made from patches my mother collected in her travels.
TJ Goes to New York
Travis has been up here a lot this spring, helping us with projects -- most particularly our backyard patio. This has been three years in the making, so it feels great to finally getting it done.
He's immersed in getting ready to head back East. He's purchased a motorcycle that he's very in love with right now. Makes me nervous but I get it.
All in a days work
At work it feels sometimes I'm chained to my desk. I'm a member of the Wilsonville Historical Society, so that gets me out some but not often. When I have a spare hour sometimes I take a hike through a local park (taking photos for work so I don't feel guilty) or explore other areas. I was invited to a ceremony at a local historic site by members of the Grand Ronde tribe, paying tribute to the first salmon harvested at Willamette Falls. That was a great experience.
Keeping busy
Went down to Hill Street after Sarah was done painting the back room and moved everything back in there so we could move everything out of the living room to paint it! Slow but sure we're getting it all done.
I volunteered for a pre-Memorial Day graveyard cleanup at Lone Pine Cemetery on Start Street. It was interesting learning the best techniques for historic headstones.
The Green Team returns
Returned for another year of CF Walk, party of Toby's Green Team. It was a small group this year but lovely weather. We enjoyed it very much.
Out and about
After three years here we finally made it to the 82nd Street parade, our neighborhood's "local" parade. It was quite fun, not a small town thing with insurance agents in pickups, waving. Not the most attractive setting, however.
It gets so boring, the relentless fight against the onslaught of gray hair. I went rogue this spring and added some other color. Who knew?
