Subtle getaway

 Short but very nice getaway after the holiday chaos was over. Just a weekend less than an hour from home, but away from obligations and chores and work.
 We stayed at The Lodge at Suttle Lake (why does everything need to be backwards nowadays? it's not the Warm Springs Museum, it's the Museum at Warm Springs. Oh. Annoys the crap out of me), just west of Sisters a bit. 
We did little but kick back (except for a hike around the ice-covered lake -- saw a river otter!!!) and relax and it was wonderful. Our first night was in one of their 'historic' (translation: old) forest service cabins. We quite liked it except for the Bed From Hell. We even got up in the middle of the night and tried the sofa bed, thinking it might be better. Ah, no. 
They let us switch rooms the next night and the new cabin, while not as charming, was very nice. 

The weekend reminded of us of another winter break, this one to a cabin along the Metolius River. Perfect escape for little time investment.
