The Girls Are Back in Town
This time the Girls came to me, traveling to Sunriver to stay at Terri's place. These weekends are great, 48ish hours of pure girlfriend time, with no husbands or boyfriends or kids. Susan brought us a fun craft, a great way to spend a leisurely afternoon in the sun, sitting on the deck and listening to music.
Wanting an outing, we traveled to Lava Lands (love the name, sounds like Disneyland). We found a Forest Service volunteer ranger, an older gentleman who seemed tickled to have a gaggle of women hanging on his every word. And we walked among the lava, except poor Sylvia, who had injured her knee skiing.
We talked and talked and talked, ate great food and went out to listen to music. The house band was playing a bizarrely retro set, nothing after 1990. Several of the girls were loving it, dancing the night away. College level ball was on TV, drawing in Julie like a moth to a flame. And most bizarrely, a group of college boys left shorthanded at closing time (I can only assume), tried very hard to persuade us to go party with them. It was deju vu to our gathering a few years before and hilarious to boot.
