Bon Voyage

Summer seemed to be a lead-up to farewells, in one way or another. Josh headed to Utah with his mom. They're living outside Salt Lake City and Josh has decided he's not interested in school right now. He's looking for work and mustering up the courage to drive on the big city freeways to better explore the area. 

This quilt doesn't have anything to do with farewells, I just wanted to post the photo to prove that -- yes, I'm still working on this, 15 years later. 

Many things this summer were about getting Jess ready for college and adult life. She opened a checking account, learned to made her own appointments and deal with insurance and the messed up Child Support Division. Here, Jess and B change oil on  Cracker. It's not the end of her learning curve either, but she's come so far and done a great job!
