Run like the wind

In October we headed to Astoria because Brian was crazy, or brave, or suicidal, enough to have signed up for a 10k run ACROSS AND OVER THE MEGLER BRIDGE (see below). The run started at a spot called (I am not making this up) Dismal Gulch. The day we arrived it was raining sideways with gale force winds and I'm sure B was wondering what he had gotten into.

But we woke up that next day and it looked like this. Breathless. Those crystal fall days at the coast are priceless. The stormy ones? They are a dime a dozen.

We stayed with friends Brandi and Jason and Toby, which was SO fun, and visited the newly restored Astor Column (trying very hard not to go sailing off the viewing platform 'cause that would've ruined the whole weekend). And we were able to get our seafood fix at Ships Inn.

All was right with the world.
Oh, and Brian finished the 10k, RUNNING all the way, under his goal time.I found these flowers in the Dismal Gulch.

It must have been a good omen.
